Ecofriendly, freeze-dried wedding flower petals

Sunday, August 30th, 2009

I was browsing around on Twitter earlier and noticed two fellow local bridal bloggers (The Future Mrs. Smith and Sassy Bride on a Mission) were discussing freeze-dried flowers. One of them recommended a site called Flyboy Naturals – ecofriendly rose petals. I had to check it out.

I’m so excited about this site. Just look at these beautiful purple petals! Not to mention, there are more than 105 colors, they’re biodegradeable, non-staining and not slippery. These are definitely on my shopping list. :) Thanks ladies!

Nashville is full of love

Thursday, August 27th, 2009

Not only has the past month been a very exciting time for me, it’s been an amazing time for several of my local gal pals too.

This past Saturday night, Philip and I attended the wedding of a couple we’ve known for quite some time now. (It was at Journey, by the way. Our church. So my ulterior motive was to see how they decorated and set up the place. Hehe. Kidding! Kinda.)

It was a BEAUTIFUL wedding. Their colors were black and white with touches of pink.

Thanks to our close friend Alisa for snapping this photo. Look at them! Aren’t they adorable? He truly cherishes her. Not only could you tell as they spoke their vows to each other, but just being around them makes you happy and full of love. I’m truly blessed to have friends like them. Thank you, Jake and Heylee, for being two wonderful people. We feel privileged to have been a part of your big day. :)

Little did we know that, while we were at this wedding, another friend was  on his knee, popping the question just a few buildings away!

Philip and I have known Loyd and Deeann for a little over a year now. (I think? Times flies!) We met them through our small group at church. They’ve been dating for about four years and, according to Deeann, had also been talking about marriage for a bit.

Well, for the past few weeks Loyd had been devising the perfect proposal plan. He TOTALLY pulled it off without a hitch! (This plan was detailed! Too intricate for me to even detail here!) So while we were at Jake and Heylee’s wedding on Saturday night, Loyd, Deeann and both of their families were also at The Factory to be a part of Loyd and Deeann’s proposal. Here’s a photo taken after she said yes:

Talk about beautiful, happy smiles. :) I love it. This photo was taken as they were walking into Saffire restaurant at The Factory – where their families were anxiously awaiting them.

This past weekend was incredible…and full of love, happy couples and wonderful friends.

Are you an Unabridged Bride?

Tuesday, August 25th, 2009

unabridged-bride-nashville-weddings

Good morning everyone! Remember a few days ago I told you about my bridal coach, Liza with Maiden to Married?

She’s organizing a really cool workshop that every local bride needs to attend called the Unabridged Bride. Teaming up with Marie McKinney Oates of the Nashville Marriage Studio, these ladies are bringing us a really neat three-night event that’s going to give us helpful tools and knowledge as we venture into wedded bliss.

Click here to head over to Liza’s blog and get all the details for each night of the workshop.

Reflexology lesson? Kettlebell workout? Setting up a budget? I’m so there!

I’m SOOO excited about this Unabridged Bride Workshop that I would give up sausage biscuits for a month to get to go! You can ask Philip. Giving up sausage biscuits? That’s asking a lot. I’m a southern girl who was raised on delicious down-home cookin’ and sausage biscuits are a STAPLE in my breakfast menu. Seriously…I MUST be excited about Unabridged Bride. Giving up sausage biscuits would otherwise never cross my mind.

Click here to read more over on Marie’s blog. Tell ‘em Krista sent you. :)

Wedding wish jar at Martha Stewart Weddings

Yesterday I was browsing around on Martha Stewart Weddings, looking for some inspiration, and I found this Wish Jar. Wedding guests are asked to take a card and write their wishes for or kind words to the couple and then drop them in the jar. Isn’t that neat? I love it. So personal. Guests can write as little or as much as they want.

This is definitely something I’m considering for our reception. What do you all think? Have a similar idea? I’d love to hear about it. Please share!

Another neat New Orleans bride find – Fleur de Paris

Friday, August 21st, 2009

When I was in New Orleans a few weekends ago, I got to see so many neat things!

As my parents and I walked through the French Quarter, I kept seeing neat little window advertisements for this place called Fleur de Paris. I HAD to check it out.

Once we found it, I walked into the boutique and realized I could be there for hours trying on all the pretties on display. Chic hats, intricately beaded purses, gowns to die for and a multitude of amazing accessories. (I’m sure it was probably a nightmare for my Dad. Hehe.)

Again, if I were a New Orleans bride, I would TOTALLY shop there for me and/or my (soon-to-be notified and announced) bridesmaids.
