Ode to Philip #3 – Reasons why I adore my fiance (a never-ending series)

Sunday, January 31st, 2010

It would be difficult for me to share ALLLL of the reasons I adore Philip. There are TONS. But every time I think of a REALLY good one…I HAVE to share it. :) Today’s Ode to Philip was inspired because…

#3 – He’s helping me toilet train my cats. Yes. You read that right. We are toilet training my cats. Not litter training. They’ve got that one down pat. Toilet training. Yes. As in, I’m sharing my bathroom with two felines.

This is Ozzy.

This is Ozzy.

This is Ella.

This is Ella.

Before you call me crazy, however, consider some of the benefits:

No more poop scooping.
I’ll save money since I won’t have to buy litter anymore.
No litterbox = removal of a smelly eyesore = more space.
Less litter mess = less vacuuming.

We’re in our 4th week of toilet training with the CitiKitty system.

Week by week, as indicated in the instructions, we remove one ring from the CitiKitty, which progressively makes the hole larger until it reaches the normal size of the toilet seat. Once we get to this stage, the cats should technically be toilet trained.

Unfortunately Ozzy has had a few accidents this past week…meaning we’ve got to stay at the current stage for another week or so. Apparently one of his furry little paws slipped in the hole and it scared him. Poor little guy. Thankfully I’ve been able to keep an eye on him over the past day or two (due to the 4 inches of icy snow outside) and he’s given it another whirl. :) Hopefully within the next month they’ll be completely trained! *fingers crossed*

I’ll keep you posted. I have many more wedding details coming soon! Have a warm, safe weekend!

Another lovely bouquet idea – DIY fabric flowers

Friday, January 29th, 2010

Clearly I’m SOOO in love with the vintage brooch bouquet idea. I absolutely love the way it’s coming along, piece by piece.

If I hadn’t discovered the brooch bouquet idea, however, there’s a good chance I’d be crafting my own lovely flowers with the help of this blog post over at 100 Layer Cake. (They have DIY instructions!)

Aren’t these DIY silk flowers pretty? I have some more updates coming soon – hopefully over the weekend. Have a great Friday everyone!

I have new pieces for my vintage brooch bouquet!

Wednesday, January 27th, 2010

Thanks to Philip’s amazing parents, I have several new pieces to add to my collection of jewelry for my vintage brooch bouquet:

Aren’t they lovely? This morning Philip’s dad came by our office with these. I love each of these pieces – especially the earrings on the left! So elegant. Philip’s mom says he gave her the butterfly pin when he was about 12 years old. That means a lot that she’d give it to me. Thank you to my future-in-laws for these gifts. :) This bouquet is going to be full of love. Thanks also to everyone who is still looking for jewelry to send! I love that you’re all as excited as I am!

Check out these perfectly purple bottles I found at the Nashville flea market! They totally fit the vibe for our wedding. I’m not quite sure what we’re going to incorporate with these yet…but I do have some ideas. Any suggestions?

Helping Haiti

Sunday, January 24th, 2010

When I became a Rodan+Fields consultant last Fall, my intent was to earn extra money for our wedding and for our new life together. (Belmont has been getting all my extra $$ for the past 3 yrs, so I’ve had $0 savings!) Thankfully my Rodan+Fields income is giving me other opportunities too.

I’ve been watching all the coverage of the need and devastation in Haiti over the past several days and I’ve been trying to figure out what I can do to help. Well, I’ve figured it out.

hands-and-feet-project-jacmel-haiti

The Hands & Feet Project is an orphanage in Jacmel, Haiti that was founded by four people who go to my church. One of the founders was at church this morning to update us and share with us how Hands & Feet is impacting the community there. It was laid on my heart to support this organization and tell others about how they can help too.

Saying that, I’ve decided that for the next several weeks, 20% on all R+F orders will be given to Hands & Feet. If you’ve been looking for a way to make a difference, this is it. Please share this with others and reach out to me if you have questions.

Visit my Rodan+Fields product site to find the perfect clinical skincare for your needs and help Haiti too!

OR visit the Hands & Feet Project to make your donation directly.
