We’re so grateful for the caring, giving, supportive family and friends in our lives and we thank you all from the bottom of our hearts. Thank you for showering us with so many blessings. Not only in the form of gifts, but also in the form of your time and your wisdom.

Alright…now off to bed. OH! Have you voted for Nashville’s Best Bridal Blogger? Yours truly is in the running. More details coming tomorrow. To vote now, go here. Thanks to all who’ve voted so far!

Adding a few sentimental pieces from mom and dad to my brooch bouquet

Wednesday, April 21st, 2010

vintage-brooch-bouquet-nashville-wedding-parents

My vintage brooch bouquet would not be complete without a few pieces from my parents.

My mom gave me this lovely pearl earring and pin set. I LOVE how simply glamorous they are. :) She is one classy lady.

The other three pieces are from my father who is a Shriner through the Masonic Lodge. The Masonic fez pin (center) was actually my grandfather’s. (My dad’s dad.) He was also a Mason. Unfortunately he passed before my time, but I’ve been told many stories about how incredible of a man he was. I’m excited to have this keepsake as a part of my bouquet. The other two Masonic pins commemorate two different Potentates of the Illinois Masonic Lodge – Richard Swaney and Steve Kibler. Want to learn more about freemasonry? Click here.

Another lovely butterfly brooch & sparkly hairpins for my brooch bouquet!

Tuesday, April 20th, 2010

My cup runneth over, ya’ll! I’ve officially collected more than 70 pieces of jewelry for my bouquet and it’s ALLLL because of YOU and your big hearts.
Thank you thank you THANK YOU! This is SO special to me. Words can’t even describe.

The pins in this top picture are from fellow Belmont alumna Miss Rachel G. The moment I met Rachel I was hooked. She has one of those electric personalities to which you can’t help but be attracted. We were inseparable at Belmont. When we weren’t in one of our PR classes, we would typically be found studying at Bongo Java or enjoying sushi at Taste of Tokyo. After walking through the graduation line together, we both found ourselves on new life adventures. Although our paths took different directions, we’ve remained good friends. I’m so thankful that, although time passes without regular visits, we pick up right where we left off. When we do get time together, it’s almost as if no time passed at all. Thank you SO much Rachel for these beautiful pins and for your unwavering friendship.

Next up we have a set of sparkly hairpins from Mrs. Marion I. It’s through my PR career that I know Marion because I am employed by her husband! Marion is one of those ladies who can do it all. Blogging, event planning, kettlebell training, eating raw, giving back to the community. Not only is this woman legitimately incredible, she has a refreshingly vibrant personality to match! Marion, I’m grateful for the time we’ve spent discussing PR/marketing ideas over coffee. Your zest for life and for helping others are rare attributes. I’m so blessed to know you and also to work for a stand-up person like Hunter. Thanks for not only being a positive influence in my life, but also for positively affecting the lives of many others in and around the community as well.

Little did I know the outpour  of love, kindness and generosity I would experience when I started telling people about my vintage brooch bouquet. Pieces are STILL coming in, folks!

I’m going to have OODLES of lovely jewelry to choose from! Check out these unique pins from the Falks, some family friends from home in Southern Illinois. The butterfly is so colorful and that flower is absolutely rockin’ it! It just glistens when held in the light. SO beautiful!

Yes, I’ve been hiding under a rock for the past month. :(

Sunday, April 18th, 2010

It’s been almost exactly one month since my last post here and I feel insanely guilty about it. I LOVE this blog and I’m so thankful for you folks out there who are following along with this adventure. I think something clicked a few weeks ago and it hit me that we’re officially less than 2 months away from our big day. And buddy, have I been productive.

So what have I been up to for the past 30 days?

- I moved to Franklin. Since we both spend a majority of our week in Franklin, we’d been looking for a great place to move in a nice Franklin neighborhood. Thanks to Craigslist, we found something sooner than intended and I packed up and made the move.

- Addresses. Addresses. Addresses. I think that explains itself. :)

- Getting pumped about bridal showers. Last weekend, April 10, was our first bridal shower! Thanks to my incredible Maid of Honor, my amazing bridesmaids and my wonderful Aunt and Uncle, I was blessed with a beautiful wedding shower just outside of my hometown in Southern Illinois. Not only was I surrounded by loving people (including my 1st grade teacher & my elementary music school teacher!), we received such a generous amount of gifts! It was absolutely perfect. More than I ever could’ve dreamed of or wished for. Many thanks to Bridesmaid Rebecca for carting all of our gifts back to Tennessee for us. Here are a few photos from the first bridal shower:

Our next bridal shower is a couples shower which will be hosted here in Franklin. It’s next weekend…so I’ll have pictures from that one coming soon.

Thank you again for reading along here at Becoming Mrs. Dial. I commit to spending more time with you as the big day nears. I have SOOO many more things to share. Stay tuned, friends!
