Another neat New Orleans bride find – Fleur de Paris

Friday, August 21st, 2009

When I was in New Orleans a few weekends ago, I got to see so many neat things!

As my parents and I walked through the French Quarter, I kept seeing neat little window advertisements for this place called Fleur de Paris. I HAD to check it out.

Once we found it, I walked into the boutique and realized I could be there for hours trying on all the pretties on display. Chic hats, intricately beaded purses, gowns to die for and a multitude of amazing accessories. (I’m sure it was probably a nightmare for my Dad. Hehe.)

Again, if I were a New Orleans bride, I would TOTALLY shop there for me and/or my (soon-to-be notified and announced) bridesmaids.

The JK Wedding Dance warms my heart

JK Wedding Dance is a fun and unique wedding entrance

Remember that video of the wedding entrance I posted a few weeks ago that has become a viral sensation? Millions of people have viewed it. Those newlyweds, Jill and Kevin, have been in People magazine, on The Today Show to recreate their fun, unique entrance and hundreds (heck, maybe thousands) of bloggers have talked about them.

Not only has this young couple shared a wedding clip that I’m sure many of us will never forget, they’re focusing the major media attention they’ve attracted to a very worthy cause – the Sheila Wellstone Institute. Sheila Wellstone was an advocate, organizer, and national champion in the effort to end domestic violence in our communities. With Jill and Kevin’s help, more than $15,000 has already been donated to the institute because of their video and Web site which is supporting the cause.

It’s refreshing to see my generation making a difference like this in local communities and around the world.

Kudos to Jill, Kevin and the rest of their wedding party for showing us all that breaking the mold is not only okay, but that you can also change opinions and touch other lives in the process.
