When Philip and I began envisioning our wedding and establishing our list of priorities for the wedding day, flowers were not at the top of the list. (Sorry to all the florists out there.
)
I love flowers, however, when you’re working with a set budget, you find creative ways to maximize your dollars and cut costs.
Spending money on a beautiful bouquet (that would wilt and fall apart within hours) just did not appeal to me.
Shortly after this past Christmas (’09), I found my solution. Thanks to a post on the Ruffled blog, I learned about Amanda Heer of Fantasy Floral Designs and her STUNNING brooch bouquets.
On January 18th I began sharing the bouquet concept with my friends and family and within days I was receiving amazing pieces of jewelry from all over the country.
As of May 3rd, I’d collected more than 85 pieces jewelry for my brooch bouquet. Such an amazingly overwhelming response! (I only needed 50-60!)
On May 10, I shipped all of the pieces to Amanda and will have my bouquet within the next 2 weeks. Stay tuned for more details!
Here is one of the many lovely brooch bouquets Amanda has created:

Not that I’m planning my daughter’s wedding any time soon, (she’s heading to college end of the month) but I’m a crafty kind of person and was interested in your brooch bouquet. It came out just lovely and I’m sure you were completely pleased with it. Your whole blog it informative and down to earth, with a lot of good common sense. Thanks for sharing with us all. Barb.
